The Region & What to do
The Cape region around Somerset West is one of the most beautiful and varied destinations in the world. Its Mediterranean climate brings long, warm summers with very little rainfall, while a fresh sea breeze keeps even the hottest days comfortable. Sunny winter days are often pleasantly mild, and the region remains malaria-free throughout the year. Nature is especially lovely in spring, when the landscape bursts into colour from September to October.
There is so much to discover nearby, from botanical gardens and nature reserves filled with Erica and Protea, to excellent bird watching and striking mountain scenery. Highlights such as Table Mountain, the Twelve Apostles and the Cederberg all offer unforgettable experiences and breathtaking views. From August to October, the Cape coastline becomes a wonderful place for whale watching, with close sightings of mothers and their calves. From KaapsePracht, it is easy to explore the West Coast, Cape Agulhas, the southernmost point of South Africa, the Garden Route, and many other memorable day trips.
Golf is one of the Western Cape’s great pleasures, and many of our guests visit specifically to enjoy the excellent courses in the area. Within easy reach of KaapsePracht, you will find a wide selection of outstanding golf clubs to suit every golfer. Browse the list below and discover what is waiting for you.
